Our award-winning advanced Apprenticeship programme will turn your interest in practical issues into a long-term career, where you’ll constantly learn and develop new skills.

The National Grid advanced Apprenticeship is a Beacon award-winning programme recognised for excellence and innovation in further education training.

A real alternative to the traditional university route
A permanent position when you satisfactorily complete the whole programme
Two-and-a-half-, three- or four-year development programme worth approximately £20,000
Starting salary of £14,950 p.a. rising to £23,715 on completion
You will be skilled to professional technician status and have achieved an NVQ Level 3
Six different programmes available
Blend of formal study at our Nottinghamshire training centre, combined with practical application and experience at your local site
Ideal career path for females with the opportunity to work in teams out on site at our facilities

Trainee engineers

If you're a technical problem-solver looking to build a career in engineering, then our Engineer Training Programme – which includes a foundation degree – will help develop your skills through a mix of practical work and academic study.

An ‘earn while you learn’ alternative to securing a university degree or, if you already have that degree, a chance to specialise
A permanent position when you satisfactorily complete the whole programme
Two-year development programme
Starting salary of £23,500 p.a. rising to £30,150 on completion
A fully-funded foundation degree in electrical power engineering worth approximately £30,000
A car to help with travel during your training
Blend of formal study at our Nottinghamshire training centre, combined with practical application and experience at your local site
Ideal career path for females with the opportunity to work in teams out on site at our facilities
