Business & Department


Our Corporate business is responsible for providing support services for all other ScottishPower businesses. 

Corporate Security is responsible for Physical and Cyber Security, Fire Safety, Business Continuity and Data Protection processes, systems and contracts, with responsibility for 19 direct staff and budgetary oversight in excess of £13M.

Directly overseeing and holding responsibility for the proactive deployment of Fire and Security programmes, Corporate Security ensure that Scottish Power staff and assets remain safe, secure and resilient through the development and continual implementation of a range of corporate and legislative standards, strategies and policies to meet Iberdrola Group requirements.


Critical to ScottishPower’s Corporate security function, the incumbent will be required to create a sustainable, compliant corporate security environment cable of meeting both business demands and the scrutiny of regulatory review by DECC, CPNI and other authorised entities.


  • Implement the Iberdrola Security Model in relation to Physical Security (including Fire)
  • Asses risk and the associated threats to ScottishPower
  • Work closely with Iberdrola and ScottishPower businesses to provide a comprehensive Security and Fire Control service providing added value
  • Ensure that Security policies are properly defined, updated, communicated and observed, in relation to Physical Security (including Fire)
  • Agree annual objectives and direct the work of the Physical Security team to achieve them
  • Effectively manage the Physical Security budgets and achieve best value for money
  • Manage outsourced Service Providers ensuring that delivery and development fully satisfies statutory, contractual, commercial and performance objectives
  • Liaise closely with Procurement and Control to ensure that corporate Security (Physical Security) fully conforms to ScottishPower Procurement and contractual processes
  • Maintain liaison at a senior level with relevant national and local Security organisations
  • Understand and comply with national and local laws, norms and regulations affecting Physical Security (including Fire) so as to inform ScottishPower businesses and project design
  • Lead the delivery of a range of Physical Security projects, delivered through a variety of delivery and funded routes including collaborative and directly funded projects to ensure delivery meets the requirements of the project funders, sponsors and the Iberdrola model
  • Lead the design of Physical Security systems to be installed at ScottishPower locations to ensure continuity and compatibility of the various sub-systems installed throughout the ScottishPower infrastructure
  • Lead engagement for ScottishPower Physical Security with the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure to understand national requirements and the Critical National Infrastructure and ensure that ScottishPower meets the required standard
  • Provide professional advice to ScottishPower businesses in relation to Physical Security (including Fire) responsibilities
  • Deputise for the Security Director as required
  • Lead on the provision of a protective environment for Iberdrola executives visiting the UK.


  • Highly developed ability to think both tactically and strategically
  • Substantial experience in Security whether in business or in Government
  • Proven management skills and experience in leading and motivating a team
  • Proven communication skills and the ability to represent ScottishPower at a National level
  • Ability to present information and influence management decisions
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Exceptional leadership qualities
  • Specialist knowledge of Physical Security Systems and the security industry
  • Extensive general knowledge of the law, including the Data Protection Act as it impacts Security systems and processes
  • Solid background in risk assessment and risk management
  • Good IT literacy to manage ScottishPower systems
  • Experienced in delivering projects and programs
  • Extensive experience of stakeholder management at a senior level
  • Demonstrated financial acumen
  • Contract management experience
  • Ability to lead complex investigations and provide accurate and concise reports to ScottishPower Director
  • Highly developed ability to resolve complex problems and negotiate successful outcomes


  • Degree qualified, or of Graduate calibre
  • Extensive experience of delivering projects and programmes
  • Contract management experience
  • Solid background in risk assessment and risk management
