Our Generation business ensures we have enough power to continue delivering the energy needed. We deliver competitive energy from across our generation portfolio of hydro and gas-fired generation, while minimising the environmental impact.

SMW Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of ScottishPower Generation Limited, owns and operates a Fuel Manufacturing & Sludge Treatment Centre at Daldowie near Uddingston under a PFI agreement with Scottish Water; this plant processes sewage sludge from the Greater Glasgow Catchment area. SMW also operates sludge storage and pumping facilities within Scottish Water’s Shieldhall Waste Water Treatment Works. The Daldowie treatment centre receives stores then dewaters and dries sludge to manufacture a renewable fuel product has been given the name of Waste Derived Fuel (WDF).

About the Role

We currently have a vacancy for a Planning Technician at the Fuel Manufacturing & Sludge Treatment Centre at Daldowie near Uddingston. The planning team work as part of the Engineering Department at the plant.

The main purpose of the job is to effectively plan internal engineering/maintenance requirements including update of Maximo system and all associated Process KPI’s. Help to Maintain Accreditation of ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and PAS 55 Accreditation by ensuring compliance with the above systems. Co-ordinate Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Compliance audit activities. Meet the Process Safety requirements by updating all required databases ensuring site meets allocated targets.

The job holder will have authorisation level to Safety Controller, assisting the Safety Rules Training of Employees & contractors in accordance with Generation Safety Rules. You will also assist in the management of employee and contractors authorisation status via Maximo ensuring re-authorisations are carried out in timely manner.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Accountable to the Safety Planning & Compliance Engineer for the development and maintenance of equipment Hierarchy on Maximo System. Generate/develop work order cards, job cards and work requests, for pre-plans and repetitive maintenance activities. Document schedules for planned maintenance. Instigate and monitor method statements for normal operations as well as subcontractors.
* Ensure high standards of Risk Assessments and Method statements for allocation with maintenance/operational activities.
* Support the Safety Planning and Compliance Engineer in meeting team targets to deliver the Daldowie Business Plan.
* Responsible for advising on planning constraints to achieve the optimal commercial performance of the plant.
* Assist in all applicable change initiatives within the Engineering Department (e.g. engineering standards, plant modification process, maintenance strategy and Operational Transformation programme projects)
* Assist in the implementation to the required standards of health and safety systems delivery including subcontractor operations. Including maintaining OHSAS 18001 accreditation and related systems
* Assist in maintaining ISO 14001 / 9000 2000 environmental and quality systems for site activities including subcontractor operations.
* Supervising Officer for various sub-contract support services.
* Liaise with stores person on material / parts usage and add details to Maximo system

About You

If you are suitably experienced in planning duties relating to wastewater treatment/thermal drying technology, or other continuous process/manufacturing operations, and have experience in maintenance planning and capital procurement we are keen to speak with you. Ideally you will be educated to a minimum of City & Guilds/ONC level, in an engineering or science discipline and Health, Safety and Environment Training or equivalent experience. You should also have a driving license and IOSH certificate.

We are looking for someone who has a proven track record following all safety, environmental, production and maintenance procedures including working to agreed standards and procedures. You should also be self-motivated with a flexible approach to work including commitment to undertake a wide variety of tasks, comfortable with change and constantly seeking new ways to advance performance. You should be able to build and manage relationships across a wide-range of stakeholders and have a proven track record of delivering successful results.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Uddingston (G71 7RX) with a starting salary from £22,960 to £28,700 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
