About the role

We currently have a vacancy for an individual with the drive and capability to positively influence the direction of UK network regulation. 

The economics of network regulation and other broader conditions of operation are enshrined in the regulatory Licences. These are revised by Ofgem at periodic Price Control reviews but we have a shared responsibility to ensure that these are fit for purpose, both for the benefit of our customers and shareholders.  

Based within the Network Planning and Regulation department at our new Headquarters in Glasgow City Centre, you will be involved in an exciting range of economic policy and wider energy policy issues. These might include:
  • Formulating SPEN’s regulatory policy with input from business experts

  • Representing SPEN and influencing industry bodies such as the Energy Networks Association

  • Negotiating with key stakeholders such as Ofgem and BEIS

Day to day duties will include managing compliance with SPEN’s licence obligations, preparing or coordinating consultation responses and calls for evidence and assisting the wider SPEN business to maximise value for customers and shareholders within the UK regulatory framework.

You will be involved in reporting the regulatory performance both internally and externally to demonstrate the excellent value for money obtained from the UK regulatory framework.

About You

We are looking for someone who is educated to at least degree level in economics or a business related discipline. A knowledge of networks related energy policy, UK networks economic regulation would be a distinct advantage. So to would be experience of these areas from a related business environment.

You will be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills. You should have experience of negotiating change and have a proven record of successfully working independently to deliver business results.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Glasgow with a salary likely to be in a range from £40,800 - £60,500per annum (and up to 10% bonus and Private Single Heath Care), depending on experience and qualifications.
