About the role

We currently have a vacancy for a Licence Development Consultant working within the Network Planning and Regulation department in the SP Energy Networks (SPEN) business based in our dynamic new Headquarters in Glasgow City Centre. The main purpose of the role is to effectively manage and interpret SPEN’s licence obligations and ensure reliable support is given to the business. This is a specialist role that involves translating complex licence matters into objectives that can be readily understood by the wider business to enable adherence.

As a key member of the team, the Licence Development Consultant will oversee and enhance compliance with licence requirements across SPEN. Working across the business to give support and advice on all license issues and as such, communicate with stakeholders and raise awareness of impacts as modifications to the licence arise.

The role will involve managing the governance process for consultations, derogations and licence modifications on behalf of SPEN which includes coordinating responses on behalf of the business for all relevant consultations. These must be consistent with other messaging to Ofgem, including engaging wider ScottishPower opinion where relevant. This will include producing effective reporting on licence performance ensuring it is made on time and in-line with licence obligations. The post holder will therefore be required to keep up to date on regulatory matters to ensure effective and reliable advice can be given.

About You

We are looking for someone who is skilled at interpreting and contributing to drafting of complex licence obligation, and as such should be able to translate complex licence arrangements to non-regulatory experts in SPEN. With a strong understanding of the issues impacting SPEN, you should be able to positively influence and collaborate with the business.

Ideally you will have strong interpersonal skills, and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. You should have experience of negotiating change and have a proven record of successfully working independently to deliver business results. You will also be degree qualified in a relevant discipline such as economics, law, finance.

In this role you will be required to analyse and evaluate diverse and complex information to determine appropriate, coordinated and timely responses on licence matters, therefore you should you have a clear understanding of licence issues in relation to wider business risk and priorities. If you are highly numerate, able to understand licence algebra and have excellent time management and organisational skills, we want to hear from you.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Glasgow with a starting salary from £40800 per annum (and up to 10% bonus and Private Single Heath Care), depending on experience and qualifications.
