About the role

We currently have a vacancy for an Operations & Maintenance Engineer within ScottishPower Renewables based in London. The O&M Engineer (Mechanical Integrity) sits within the Asset Integrity Management team of Offshore Operations, reporting to the Offshore Asset Manager. Responsible for technical support on all Mechanical aspects on the WTG and OSS (e.g. cranes, fire suppression systems, HVAC, lifts, fall arrests, diesel generators) with an impact on O&M through the commissioning, handover and operations phase of the windfarm. 


  • Provide technical support to the development of O&M agreement on OSS mechanical assets.  Review maintenance plans and tasks in light of best practice, warranties and known issues.
  • Participate in those aspects of the OSS and WTG commissioning that are deemed critical for O&M and act to represent O&M’s interests.                            
  • Provide back office tech support to the operational site teams/construction packages on mechanical faults, maintenance and modifications; initiate root cause analysis and investigations for major and frequent faults on the mechanical assets.  Track, analyse and report on the technical risks/issues on the mechanical assets.
  • Perform technical review of the as-built and handed over status of the mechanical assets in order to evaluate the operational safety, repairability and reliability the assets. 
  • Evaluate OEM and service provider’s RA and MS to help ensure that the operation and maintenance of the mechanical assets is at an ALARP risk level.
  • Develop and implement engineering procedures (eg. root cause analysis, DMAIC, change management etc.)
  • By considering industry best practice and Iberdrola’s learnings from the rest of the portfolio, create and track the adherence to O&M Functional Requirements for the mechanical assets during the design and construction phases of the project. 

About You                                                                                                     

We are looking someone who is degree and professionally qualified in Mechanical Engineering, with relevant experience in O&M Offshore wind and the operation of offshore assets (either multi MW wind turbines,offshore electrical substations or offshore platforms) and associated mechanical equipment. You should be self-motivated with a flexible approach to work; able to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing in working environment and demonstrate a positive approach to change.

You will have strong organisational and operational skills with the ability to link this awareness to technical judgement and decision making. We will also be looking for an individual who has experience of working in an international and multidisciplinary team, within this delivering against targets and reporting, with the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.

Ideally you will have offshore survival training, with knowledge of H&S and environmental legislation associated with offshore operations projects. You will have knowledge and experience of engineering mechanics, hydraulics and platform support technologies (eg Fire suppression, air conditioning, lifesaving equipment and cranes) and be IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in London (EC4Y 0AH) with a starting salary from £42000 per annum (and up to 10% bonus), depending on experience and qualifications. The individual will be working as part of a global business with activities in many countries across Europe and the rest of the world. The position may require frequent travel to various locations in Germany, UK and overseas.
