Rye House Power Station is an efficient, combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station in operation by ScottishPower located near the market town of Hoddesdon, in Hertfordshire, about 18 miles north of London.

About the role

We currently have a vacancy for a Production Technician at Rye House CCCGT Power Station. The main purpose of the role is to support the Production Team Leader, on a shift basis, in all production related activities at the station and to ensure the station is monitored and operated effectively in line with National Grid and Energy Management requirements.

The post-holder will ensure that the plant is operated in a safe and efficient manner, analysing and diagnosing plant-related problems and making sure relevant statutory requirements are complied with e.g. Health & Safety at Work Act and the Environmental Protection Act.

You will be expected to review the operational requirements of the station and assist in promoting change and improvement where agreed. Further to this, you will implement Company, Business and Station Policies as they apply as well as the Company safety rules as a Safety Co-ordinator ensuring that safety from the system is achieved.

Communication with ScottishPower Energy Management and National Grid will be necessary to ensure designated station meets its obligations under REMIT and load profiles are followed/maintained.

About you

If you are suitably experienced in an operations or maintenance role within a process industry (e.g. process plant, CCGT, or generating plant), we are keen to speak with you. Ideally you will be educated to a minimum of ONC/HNC level, in a relevant discipline or equivalent vocational qualifications/experience (e.g. a recognised apprenticeship in a relevant discipline).

You should be self-motivated, focused on achieving results and keen to develop your skills with a flexible approach and demonstrable team working skills. With your knowledge and experience of the principles of working safely, you will have relevant working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation alongside a NEBOSH or IOSH certificate. You should also be proficient with IT & software packages such as Microsoft Office.

This is a permanent, full-time position based at Rye House (EN11 0RF) with a minimum starting salary from £33450 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications, plus other company benefits including Stakeholder Pension plan, training and development, generous annual leave and flexible benefits of your choice.
